The BMFA would love your club to hold a Flightfest event during the month of May, however if May is not possible for your club don't be put off, hold your event at any other time during 2022. The aim of Flightfest is to raise the profile of our sport with the public and inspire more to get involved. If the month of May isn’t convenient for your club that’s not a problem. We’re aiming for May as it’s the start of the better weather but just being part of the Flightfest concept would be equally brilliant.
Suggested types of events your club could put on include:
- Trial experience flights
- Friends and family BBQ with training models ready to go
- Invite a local Scout group, Girlguiding, ATC, sports team etc to visit
- Don’t forget to invite your local radio, newspaper and TV news to take A simple phone call or email is all it takes!
Don’t forget to register your Flightfest event on the BMFA Contest & Events Calendar, when you list your event be sure to check the Event Type boxes for BMFA Centenary Event and BMFA Flightfest Event, your events will then list in the correct pages automatically for maximum exposure and be published in the BMFA news.
Whatever type of event your club holds, it should allow visitors the chance to get hands on, be that via the club trainer, PC based flight simulator, or free flight models for children to build, enjoy and then keep as a memento of their experience.
The BMFA has produced and will distribute to clubs special centenary marketing material that will contain artwork for posters and flyers. This just leaves your club to fill in the blank spaces with your event details, then distribute it within the community and online
All BMFA members know the personal pleasure that model flying brings, the friendships made and the personal challenges enjoyed. Flightfest is about passing on this enthusiasm to our local community.
